Hello, Dolly!" is the title song of the popular 1964 musical of the same name. Louis Armstrong's version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. The music and lyrics were written by Jerry Herman, who also wrote the scores for many other popular musicals including Mame and La Cage aux Folles. Hello, Dolly!" was first sung by Carol Channing, who starred as Dolly Gallagher Levi in the original 1964 Broadway cast

Hello, Dolly This is Louis, Dolly It's so nice to have you back where you belong You're lookin' swell, Dolly I can tell, Dolly You're still glowin'. you're still crowin' You're still goin' strong I feel the room swayin' While the band's playin' One of our old favourite songs from way back when So take her wrap, fellas find her an empty lap, fellas Dolly'll never go away again

Louis Armstrong – Hello, Dolly!. There’s something so beautifully singular about the moment. For a 14-week stretch, the just-arrived Beatles had an absolute stranglehold on the spot of the US charts. And the man who finally knocked them off was a 62-year-old big-band jazz icon whose career was thought to be basically over

Digby Fairweather included the album in the selected Armstrong discography in The Rough Guide to Jazz, saying that "Armstrong has established himself in 1964 with a new generation of fans.

Armstrong's influence extends well beyond jazz, and by the end of his career in the 1960s, he was widely regarded as a profound influence on popular music in general. Armstrong was one of the first truly popular African-American entertainers to "cross over", that is, whose skin color became secondary to his music in an America that was extremely racially divided at the time. Well, hello, dolly It's so nice to have you back where you belong You're lookin' swell, dolly. You're still goin' strong I feel that room swayin'.
