Little Smokey Smothers (January 2, 1939 – November 20, 2010) was an African-American Chicago blues guitarist and singer. His elder brother was the bluesman Otis "Big Smokey" Smothers (died 1993), with whom he was sometimes confused. Albert Abraham "Abe" Smothers was born in Tchula, Mississippi, learned to play the guitar at the age of 15, and relocated to Chicago two years later. He soon appeared on stage, playing with Arthur Big Boy Spires, Magic Sam, Otis Rush and Lazy Bill Lucas

The 1962-1963 singles are somewhat more fully produced and Smothers seems a little more at ease, with the grooves flowing in a nice punchy shuffle, though "Twist With Me Annie" suffers from sounding like the umpteenth attempt to make a takeoff on Hank Ballard's old "Work With Me Annie" series of R&B hits.

His album Smokey Smothers Sings the Backporch Blues, produced by Sonny Thompson, with Freddie King on lead guitar on some tracks, was released in 1962. A subsequent session produced four tracks, including "Twist with Me Annie", a reworked version of "Work with Me, Annie"  . It is a collection of twelve singles previously released by the Chess label from 1960 through 1962. Because of the illustration on its sleeve (by Don S. Bronstein), the album is often called The Rockin' Chair Album, a nickname even added to the cover on some reissue pressings of the LP. Joe Carter (guitarist).
