Long Tall Sally" is a rock and roll 12-bar blues song written by Robert "Bumps" Blackwell, Enotris Johnson, and Little Richard; recorded by Little Richard; and released in March 1956 on the Specialty Records label. The flip side was "Slippin' and Slidin'". Both songs were subsequently released in the LP Here's Little Richard (Specialty, March 1957)

Little Richard’s 1956 song Long Tall Sally started with a piece of paper a young girl gave Little Richard’s producer Robert Bumps Blackwell. The song the girl had written was only three lines: Saw Uncle John with Long Tall Sally/ They saw Aunt Mary comin’/ So they ducked back in the alley. Not wanting to disappoint the popular disc-jokey, Blackwell took the lyrics back to Little Richard and they turned it into a song

Long Tall Sally" was Little Richard's first gold record award on Specialty Records. When I recently bought the CD "Little Richard: The Georgia Peach," the enclosed booklet mentioned his career highlights & a discography with chart rankings. Little Richard did have many top ten & top twenty hits on the Billboard R&B and Pop charts over a 3 to 4 year period.
