The Kinks - Long Tall Sally flac album

Long Tall Sally" is a rock and roll 12-bar blues song written by Robert "Bumps" Blackwell, Enotris Johnson, and Little Richard; recorded by Little Richard; and released in March 1956 on the Specialty Records label. The flip side was "Slippin' and Slidin'". Both songs were subsequently released in the LP Here's Little Richard (Specialty, March 1957)

This album is a compilation of some of the at that time harder to find singles due to the fact that they hadn't been very succesful at the time of release. Also on this album are some Shindig performances in which the Kinks mimed to their hits. Side two is largely dominated by very nice live recordings of the early to mid seventies. The audio quality varies, especially on side one of the album. The recordings taped from television have a lower volume than the singles. The album sleeve had different colors. The picture of the album I found on the internet has a yello sleeve.

There really was a "Long Tall Sally," but she was not a cross-dresser as sometimes reported. Little Richard explained that Sally was a friend of the family who was always drinking whiskey - she would claim to have a cold and would drink hot toddies all day. He described her as tall and ugly, with just two teeth and cockeyed. She was having an affair with John, who was married to Mary, who they called "Short Fat Fanny. John and Mary would get in fights on the weekends, and when he saw her coming, he would duck back into a little alley to avoid her.
