It was released on February 7, 1973, by Columbia Records. Musically, the album departed from the "groove-ridden, feel-based songs" of the band's first two records in favor of more anthemic hard rock while featuring guitar and songwriting contributions by James Williamson.

Raw Power was the first Stooges album I owned. I was introduced to the world’s forgotten boy that day, and discovered one of the most dynamic figures in rock and roll history. Sinewy Iggy, silver haired, low slung leather pants to show off his abs, was the poster boy, and still somewhat is, for rockstar heroin chic.

Talk about Iggy And The Stooges - Raw Power

Felolak
It appears strange that an album which was at the date of its release in 1973 was most unsuccessful, in Canada had 2 releases in 1973. I believe that either the "WC 32111" or the "C32111" is a re-issue. Anybody who knows and can correct the release page? My copy writes "WC" on the sleeve but "C" on the label, but I know that there also is a sleeve with only "C".

1st 1973 pressing was Columbia, 2nd pressing a few months later was CBS. The reissue pictured here - with the title in the upper right corner - is from the late 1970s.

I guess WC is from the 80s and C from the 90s.But I can't say much about Canadian pressings except for they were always a few years later with changing the prefix than Columbia US in the 60s.So the C prefix pressing most likely is from the 90s or later. The most common 1970 prefixes of the US for albums were KC, PC and JC - 70s pressings will have no barcode on the back (Columbia US has started the bar code in 1979) and the logo in yellow six times written around the red center labels (sometimes called orange labels). 1st pressings will probably have the KC or PC prefix. Can't say anything about the WC prefix. Pressings until approximately the mid 70s came in a heavy cardboard sleeve.- 80s pressings will have the same red labels, but a bar code on the back.- 90s pressings will have different red labels (with "columbia" in white on top), a bar code and just a C prefix maybe.
