Was just listening to the samples of this release & the Gamemaster mixes on Beatport, and sorry but I'm disappointed, why are some of the older mixes quieter and not all the mixes at the same level? Reply Notify me Helpful.

Talk about Li Kwan - Point Zero / I Need A Man

This is the version to find with the full mix of the trance classic ‘point zero’ . This is the extended version which was featured on Paul Oakenfolds Goa mix.

"Like wow..."Yeah, basically. B-side is whatever but THE A-SIDE. Oh wow the a-side. The sung vocals (wordless, thank you) will send chills down your spine. Well, the whole track will do that, honestly. There are some releases that are so good I don't really have words for them, they're best just experienced. The a-side is one such track. And wow, I love the vocal sample. It reinforces dancefloor camaraderie, and I really love samples like that; the ones that cause you to look around at everyone else dancing with you and think to yourself 'yeah, they're talking about us.' Lots of love to be found here."...you wouldn't believe some of the kids that come in here. they're really spaced out!"

Masterpiece.end of.at age 38 (at the time of posting) I can't think of anything else that evokes the same level of emotion as this.Musically there was alot going in at this time, and trance especially was (in my opinion) at it's peak.for me though, this and man with no name's 'sugar rush' represented the pinnacle of what was going on.Psychedelic, euphoric, unyielding, emotive and indispensable.don't settle for the edited version on subsequent pressings, accept nothing less than the original 12 minute mix.

Intro from Point Zero samples The Calling from A Positive Life

Can't believe point zero was a B side, got to be one of the best!!
Vutaur
People seem to rate this solely because of "Point Zero". While "Point Zero" is a good but very overrated track. People forget how forgettable "I Need A Man" is. Yet almost every person rates it 5/5 only because of "Point Zero."
Corgustari
That's because this record deserves to be rated 6/5 for side A and 4/5 for Side B - which equals a 5/5 average for the entire release ;)
Wanenai
Goose bumps!!!!!!!!! When trance was trance ...
Kerahuginn
Point Zero's intro voice is taken from "Green Buddha - Psalm IV" (1993), slightly pitched.
Kison
There's also "Out From The Deep" by Enigma. According to whosampled.com this samples "The Calling" which is perhaps surprising given how it's usually Enigma who are sampled.
Saberdragon
Seems you are right. Thanks! I did not knew this before.
SlingFire
No..actually they both came from the intro of "The Calling" by A Positive Lifehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jG4Kb981-J4
Binthars
I can agree with this track being the pinnacle of trance music. This or "Vernon's Wonderland" are the two tracks I might use to define the genre.

This is hands down the absolute pinnacle of trance music - it does not get any better than this. Timeless, mind blowing... wish there were more like this.

Nothing holds a candle to this riveting, driving trance crackin tune still perfect almost 17 years of age. Best if listened to on a huge speaker with bottom bass system. I brought this out in Texas at a rave and LIT IT UP along with Acid Phase by Emmanuel Top. Listen to the link to the right and that sums up my review. Sound quality minor or best, this is the best example of what real prog trance is. 30 other may be good only because of this gem here.

This CD is the only digital source where you will find the full 12 min mix of "Point Zero" so I am really glad to have a copy as I have never seen it for sale on here. For some reason it is entitled "Land of Plop mix" but I can confirm that it is the same mix as the HHED 003 vinyl, only in digital format with no vinyl crackles :)What can I say about this release that has not already been said before? The best track is of course "Point Zero". I have loved this track since it got released in 1994 when I first heard Pete Tong play it on his Essential Selection 30 minute hot mix to round off his show. Since then I searched high and low for a record shop that sold the full 12 minute mix (before internet shopping was popular). Years later I found a copy by accident in HTFR while I was browsing in store so as you can image I was both shocked and over the moon! (this release: HHED 003). That is the only vinyl copy where you will find the full uncut 12 min mix.

I nearly had a heart attack when i read the above review. This tune is pioneering the depths of progressive trance taking you on a journey whether you like it or not.... but you'd have to be some kind of weirdo to not enjoy this ride. It's powerful, enlightening, euphoric and an amazing catalyst for psychedelic mind expansion. No matter how well you know this journey it will always blow your mind! Hardly any other tune out there will take you anywhere near this place. Even with all the technology and advancements in music production, if this got released today for the first time it would be just as amazing.

I don't know what do people actually like here so much. It's an ordinary progressive trance track from the past days, and there were so many of this kind back then. Really, nothing outstanding, whatmore it has a rather pathetic vocal which i don't like at all. Trancey synth drive and generally the sound is ok, but nothing more than a usual progressive house/trance track. There are hundreds like this, but you must dig deeper for the better ones, not only look for the recognized tracks that appeared on many compilations. This is only the proof that people are not into their music enough. I can number at any time of the day 30 way bigger tracks in the same vein.Everyone who disagree will only prove my point.
Bine
still waiting for that 30 tracks way bigger than Li Kwan - Point Zero...

It's cause 12 mins is too fuckin long. I've edited this at my SynthesizerSounds channel on Youtube. If u hear my version I think you'll change ur mind, this is actually very good music. I've bought somewhere in the region of 700 electronic dance music Cds - u can't dig deeper than this, this is one of the best early days Trance!
Tholmeena
I disagree with you. I think Point Zero is one of the all-time trance masterpieces....so you are saying that I am not into my music enough? That's interesting, because music has been my passion since I was a young boy. As a 31 year old man that passion is probably stronger than ever.I have a collection of over 4000 compact discs and vinyl records. I have over 14,000 mp3 / .wav files.Am I not into my music enough?I'd love to hear what you think.
Dilkree
I feel it more to the point of which Dj were playing it .. some Dj's playing a rec could make it sound awesome ..IE Paul Oakenfold people used to notice and copy the recs he played ..
Mikarr
I agree that this is an awsome track, "real Trance" tune and all that shit, but one thing that is really surprising me about this release is that nobody mentioned anything about this version: I actually bought this record just because I thought that the 6 mintues version, that released in so many compilations is not full. When you listem to it, you'll see that it ends with a fade-out, which unfortunately typical to some Trance compilations, and it sounds like the music continues. It seems to be that this is the complete track and the 12 minutes version of this release is just an Extended version, that ends exactly the same. It has some tremedous parts of course, but muscially the 6 mintues version is much better. Also, the sound of this record is not so good due to bad mastering. At the bottom line, this is still a release worth to get, but not instead the original version, and definitly not worth the price that some sellers here are ask for it. Happy hunting.

'Point Zero' is simply outstanding trance. A very nice build up to the break. Produces a fantastic feeling, and when the take off finds it's place you'll probably feel like flying. Flip it over and you'll find another track, but it's not as special as Point Zero. Especially 'Point Zero' is the reason to buy this vinyl, perfect trance with a hell of a break. If you can find a copy, just buy it ! 5/5
Flamehammer
"Point Zero" is the one & only trance track i like! Great elements a forward-pushing bassline and that female sample will push your feelings to the top! I'm very happy to have a whitelabel copy of this release. To anybody who likes any style of electronic music: Get a copy of it if you can - you will love it!
Brialelis
I'm not sure what that "I need a man" nonsense is about - though it went down well in clubs - especially the gay/mixed ones of course - and it's quite a fun track. What you really want is Point Zero. This is a cracking trance track. I should point out that this is really worth finding on Seka records as the releases on Flying and Deconstruction do not contain the full 12 minute version which has some great elements towards the end. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
