Genocide Nina Kraviz launches her трип (pronounced ‘trip’) label with a double-EP compilation entitled ’The Deviant Octopus’, featuring a pair of brand new productions from Kraviz alongside material from Terrence Dixon, emerging talent Parrish Smith & Bjarki, and veteran producers Exos & S. .In this respect ‘The Deviant Octopus’ is a perfect introduction: Kraviz herself is represented on the tracklist by two new tracks that take up the mantle of last year’s Mr Jones EP by returning to the vocal-flecked hypnotic techno that marked out that release.

Finally picked it up 21yrs(+) later after being pleasantly impressed with Octopus's more ambient-abstract debut album released back in 95, which I only bought due to curiosity in 2017. Even the weakest of the 3, the debut, still captivates with its more abstract-ambient style. Wasn't really expecting much.

Octopus is the fourth album by British progressive rock band Gentle Giant, released in 1972. It was the band's last album with founding member Phil Shulman and the first with new drummer John Weathers, who would remain with the band until their dissolution in 1980. Octopus remains a highly regarded example of the progressive rock genre and is generally considered to represent the start of the band's peak period.

Though not particularly innovative in style or technique, the overall substance of this second in the Octopus series is signature CUE, with found sounds, vocal clips, and instrumental samples (standup bass and drums, primarily) providing the atmosphere for shifting textures, offbeat compositional meanderings, and some deeply emotional passages.
