October is the second studio album by Irish rock band U2. It was released on 12 October 1981 by Island Records, and was produced by Steve Lillywhite. The album was lyrically inspired by the memberships of Bono, the Edge, and Larry Mullen Jr. in a Christian group called the "Shalom Fellowship", and consequently it contains spiritual and religious themes
October, originally with the working title of Scarlet, was released in the summer of 1981. In several countries, October was re-issued on 5" CD in March 1996 as part of the Island Master series. This Island Masters re-issue featured higher quality paper and extra pictures from the original LP's inner sleeve. The fact that the first album had a bit of success in America meant that the band toured over there for a long time to do the groundwork. When they came back and it was time to do the second album, nothing was ready! ' Steve Lillywhite in Propaganda 5. Release Date: 12 октября, 1981.
U2 sounded so confident and assured on their debut that perhaps it was inevitable they would stumble slightly on its follow-up, October. The record isn't weaker than its predecessor because it repeats the formula of Boy. It's because the band tries too hard to move forward. Bono, in particular, tries too hard to make big political, emotional, and religious statements, but the remainder of the band isn't innocent. In general, the music is too pompous, with the sound overwhelming the actual songs.

Notes
2-CD Deluxe Remastered reissue; it is the same as the European release but with a silver OBI that wraps around the whole of the back of the box. The OBI has the Japanese label number but the box has the European label number and the same European CDs Add more pictures to confirm that this is a E.U. release with just a wrap obi (to cover the EU details of back cartonated box) and to contain an external Japan booklet. When opened my copy I've found the EU release still sealed. All the release like this one are EU release w/additional Japan insert and wrap Japanese obi so it's not worth the money like for a full Japan release.
Bonus CD track titles as listed in the booklet (shortened titles are listed on the cover).
