The Best of The Doors is a compilation album by the Doors released in 2000, and is different from the albums of the same name released in 1973 and 1985. All three albums feature a slightly different track listing and a different photograph of the band's late singer Jim Morrison as cover art. Unlike its eponymous predecessors, the 2000 release includes both "Break On Through (To the Other Side)" and "The End" in their uncensored form.

The Doors only released six studio albums which include 63 songs not including expanded or additional bonus tracks, live music or anything released after 1971 and the Very Best of 2 cd version includes 34 songs. If you don't like them that much you can just get the 20 track version for less and it has all the radio hits This album is a great collection that is really easy to listen to and progresses nicely through a wide range of their catalog from the more "out there" stuff to the songs that are just great tunes. Recording quality seems very good which is important for me as I have a couple of audio systems that can pick up and amplify poor recordings.

The Doors' second album, 'Strange Days,' is a musically richer record than their self-titled debut. The carnivalesque atmosphere running throughout the songs strikes a late-'60s balance of hippie idealism and pre-war nostalgia. The album is best taken in all at once, even though its lead single, 'People Are Strange,' just missed the Top 10. 7. 'Touch Me'. From: 'The Soft Parade' (1969).

Ideally, one would avoid compilations of the Doors' work, except perhaps for the hit singles and moments when one wanted very light listening. This was a band that took itself very seriously, almost to the point of self-parody at times, and their music ought to be discovered in the setting and context in which it was intended, but assuming that one needs a Doors anthology, this 18-track collection (19 on CD) is the place to start

This is a two-disc compilation album released in 1985. A diamond record in the US, it remains The Doors' best selling release and one of the best selling albums of all time. The Best Of The Doors Q&A. Label Elektra Records.
