Ratos de Porão (Portuguese for "Basement Rats") is a Brazilian punk rock band from São Paulo. They were formed in 1981, toured South America, North America, Asia and Europe and still continue to play today. Their core lineup of João Gordo on vocals and Jão on drums and later guitars has remained since virtually the band's beginning.

Brasil, RDP's first record for Roadrunner, found the band moving from hardcore punk to a thrash-tinged crossover hybrid. Quite simply, Brasil is one of the finest crossover albums ever recorded. The songs are short, direct, and deadly, welding the basic chords of punk to the frenzied picking of thrash. Drink Til You Die," for example, combines a I-IV-V progression with machine-gun riffing.

Considered by many fans the masterpiece of Ratos' discography, this record was the passport to the world scene.
