Thus Defiled’s rookie effort welcomes the listener with a doom/death like atmosphere. The vocals are very guttural and linger while played over a slow riff on the self-titled track. This lasts for a half minute until the song erupts into an almost violent cacophony. This is what some call brutal death metal, perhaps flirting with grind. Despite their black metal themes, Enchanted By The Dark One fits more into the death realm. There’s a few solos here and there, but nothing spectacular. Once again, there’s some black metal undertones, but nothing significant.
