Enemies of Reality is the fifth studio album by American progressive metal band Nevermore, released in 2003 by Century Media records. Due to the mixed reception of the album's production by Kelly Gray, it was remixed and mastered by Andy Sneap for its 2005 reissue. The worms on the album cover are a direct reference to the lyrics of the title track, "Enemies of Reality," in which Warrel Dane sings, "Open wide and eat the worms of the enemy.

Enemies of Reality is a totally solid metal album that, while not totally perfect, feels fresh and imaginative, and conveys Nevermore’s overall vibe perfectly. In 2000, neo-traditional metal band Nevermore released Dead Heart in a Dead World. The album basically came out of nowhere; Nevermore’s previous release, Dreaming Neon Black, was generally ignored in the mainstream metal community.

While previous platters Dead Heart, in a Dead World and Dreaming Neon Black were sprawling, epic concept albums, Enemies of Reality has more elements of a nasty little thrash record, clocking in at a relatively brief 40 minutes and letting rip with the pummeling aggression of the leadoff title track (which boasts typically stellar guitar work courtesy of Jeff Loomis, who carefully balances.

Enemies Of Reality is not quite an album worthy of constant derision, and caries some positive elements that point towards the complete turnaround that happened on This Godless Endeavor, but it often gets bogged down in the same stylistically contorted mess that has tainted this band since their inception. I want to preface this by saying that Enemies of Reality is not a BAD album in any way shape or form, and is still worth having for any avid Nevermore fan. I just like this album significantly less than Dead Heart in a Dead world, Dreaming Neon Black, and This Godless Endeavor.

Talk about Nevermore - Enemies Of Reality

Is it just me (or the copy I got), or does that release sound just awful ? Nearly no heights, The volume of each instrument seams the same and the base has no punch at all :(

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enemies_of_RealityThis will explain your issue. I bought the original....got a free copy from the label, of the properly mastered version ONCE they resolved their differences with the band.

I'd like to know. This release is suspiciously cheap and available...
