Mirage is the second studio album by the English progressive rock band Camel, released on 1 March 1974. It features songs such as "The White Rider" and "Lady Fantasy". It is also a showcase for Andrew Latimer's flute, played in "Supertwister". There are five tracks on Mirage, two over 9 minutes. Those two are multi-part songs: "Lady Fantasy" and "Nimrodel/The Procession/The White Rider", the latter being about The Lord of the Rings. The album was released on Gama Records/Deram Records.

With their second album, Mirage, Camel begin to develop their own distinctive sound, highlighted by the group's liquid, intricate rhythms and the wonderful, unpredictable instrumental exchanges by keyboardist Pete Bardens and guitarist Andy Latimer. Camel are still ironing out some quirks in their sound on Mirage, but it's evident that they are coming into their own. Track Listing.

About Mirage . Second album from British progressive rock band Camel. It features some of their most well known songs; The White Rider and Lady Fantasy, as well as being heralded as one of their best albums. Vocals Doug Ferguson. Keyboards and Vocals Peter Bardens.

Camel released their second album almost a year to the day after their debut, yet it was a very different set of circumstances that greeted the release of Mirage on 1 March 1974. The band’s debut release on MCA Records had received muted praise and they decided not to exercise their option for a second record. This may have been the end for many bands, or at best slowed their progress. But with a new management team of Geoff Jukes and Max Hole of Gemini Artists guiding them, Camel moved to Decca Records’ Deram label camel and really hit their stride. Listen to Mirage right now.
