Last Splash is the second album by American indie rock band the Breeders, released on August 31, 1993. Originally formed as a side project for Pixies bassist Kim Deal, the Breeders quickly became her primary recording outlet. Last Splash peaked at number 33 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and by June 1994, the album had been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments in excess of one million units.

Last Splash is the second album by indie rock band The Breeders, released in August 1993. Pixies bassist Kim Deal formed the band as a side project. Last Splash was the band's most successful album, certified Platinum by the RIAA for selling more than one million copies. The title of the album is taken from a lyric of its lead single, "Cannonball". This single has been used in many movie trailers, including Dude, Where's My Car? and South Park.

Joined by Deal's twin sister Kelley - with whom Kim started the band while they were still in their teens - the group expanded on the driving, polished sound of the Safari EP, surrounding its (plentiful) moments of brilliance with nearly as many unfinished ideas.

Yet much of what makes The Breeders' second album a key album of the 90s al. ock crossover is what made it, for those with certain expectations, a disappointment or missed opportunity on its release. After the cluster-fax dissolution of the Pixies, a statement record was expected from Kim Deal – a "Now I'll show you what I can really do, bitches" moment. Critics were confused by the album's stylistical mood swings and textural fixations. What did happen, though, was that Last Splash, released through major label Elektra in the US, outsold not only Frank Black's solo debut but all of the Pixies albums as well. The new line-up Breeders, with Kim's twin sister Kelley and Jim Macpherson, were suddenly a big deal, a radio-ambivalent unit-shifter how?

Last Splash is the second album by American indie rock band The Breeders, released on August 31, 1993. Last Splash Q&A. But on Last Splash, The Breeders' second album, Deal’s songwriting moved front and center (with some co-writing from her twin sister Kelley, who was also in the band), and what was once her side project became her main gig. It left no question about her talents, as the album sold more than Frank’s solo debut or any of the Pixies' albums.

On 1993's Last Splash, former Pixies bassist Kim Deal pulled off a shocker: a record as good as anything by her old band that was also a pop success. With sister Kelley on guitar, Deal churned out sweet, slothy ballads, put a feminist spin on blues cliché and even had a Top 40 hit with the looped-out surf-rocker "Cannonball. CONSUMER ALERT: This vastly expanded, packed-to-the-gills 20th anniversary reissue of The Breeders’ Last Splash album contains exactly the same version of Last Splash that can currently be found crowding 99-cent CD bins all over the world.

In 1993, they released their breakout album Last Splash, which brought the band into the forefront with the runaway hit Cannonball. The song made it to on the charts, and was followed by a tour supporting Nirvana, a spot on the Lollapalooza tour and in 1994, a platinum certification. Nine years later, after an indefinite hiatus, The Breeders returned with Title TK. The Guardian UK called it "a welcome return to punky pop that knows how to flex some melodic muscle. In 2008, The Breeders released their eclectic fourth album in 18 years, Mountain Battles
