Triumph and Agony is the fourth and final studio album by the German heavy metal band Warlock, released on 5 September 1987. The album was recorded in the US with producer Joey Balin and a different band line-up in comparison with the previous album True as Steel, which had made the name of Warlock known outside of Europe. Peter Szigeti and Frank Rittel were replaced in 1987 by the American musicians Tommy Bolan and Tommy Henriksen respectively

True as Steel is the third studio album by German heavy metal band Warlock, released in 1986. The EP Fight for Rock, which contained many songs from this album, was Warlock's first success outside of Europe, charting on the US Billboard Hot 100; the music video for the song "Fight for Rock" was aired on MTV's Headbangers Ball. Triumph and Agony, what a fitting name, because this album is a triumph amongst the agony, the agony of losing both your original guitarists that is and it shows clearly in some of the album's poppier moments. It would be wrong to assume that Doro and crew burned out though, or that this album would be anything less than a traditional heavy metal styled banger. It's poppier sure, cheesy at times but it's still triumphant. By the time this album was gonna be written both original guitarists Rudy Graf (last appearing on Hellbound), and Peter Szigeti (last appearing on True As Steel) had left Warlock, and I think both of their loses really show on the songs here. Oddly enough though, just goes to figure, this was the only Warlock album to make the charts (peaking at 50 in the UK, and 80 in America), and also was easily their most mainstreamed album at that.
