Among the Living is the third studio album by American thrash metal band, Anthrax. It was released on March 22, 1987 by Megaforce Worldwide/Island, and was certified gold by the RIAA on July 31, 1990. Drummer and principal songwriter Charlie Benante has referred to Among the Living as Anthrax's "signature album".

Well Anthrax does not sound totally the same in this album as they do now, there is way more of a thrash feel in Among the Living versus albums like Worship Music or We've Come for You All. Among the Living features some of thrash metal's best songs of the genre in my opinion.

Generally considered the band's best album, Among the Living broadened the scope of Anthrax's subject matter with socially conscious lyrics addressing prejudice, violence, drug abuse ("Efilnikufesin," a rip on John Belushi), and the hollowness of the music business, as well as a politically correct ode to the "Indians. However, the band refuses to take itself too seriously, also recording tributes to Stephen King and Judge Dredd.
