Zombie" is a protest song by Irish rock band The Cranberries, written about the 1993 IRA bombing in Warrington, and in memory of two young victims, Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry. It was released in September 1994 as the lead single from their second studio album, No Need to Argue (1994). It preceded the release of No Need to Argue by two weeks. The song was written by the band's lead singer Dolores O'Riordan, and reached No. 1 on the charts in Australia, Belgium, France, Denmark and Germany.

Written as a response to the Warrington Bombing, when the Provisional IRA murdered two young children in 1993, "Zombie" is one of the band's biggest singles, reaching in their native Ireland, and having a total chart run of 11 weeks. Zombie was originally released on The Cranberries’ second album No Need To Argue in October 1994, but was issued as a single the month before. The lyrics begin: Another head hangs lowly, Child is slowly taken, And the violence, caused such silence, Who are we mistaken? At the time the song was written, the Troubles in Northern Ireland were at their height as the IRA continued their terror campaign against the British government’s involvement and presence in Northern Ireland. Following the death of Dolores O’Riordan, Tim Parry’s father, Colin, paid tribute to the singer after hearing that Zombie was about the incident that claimed his son. Parry explained: "Only yesterday did I discover that her group, or she herself, had composed the song in memory of the event in Warrington.
