Together" is a 2010 single by British electronic dance music band Pet Shop Boys released to promote their 2010 greatest hits album, Ultimate. It was released on Parlophone Records as a digital download on 24 October and as a physical release on 29 November 2010.

English synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys have released 13 studio albums, three live albums, eight compilation albums, four remix albums, three soundtrack albums, two extended plays and 55 singles. The duo's debut single, "West End Girls", was first released in 1984 but failed to chart in most regions.

This single promo cd is worthwhile buying for the 2 Grum remixes only. As for the 4 remixes of Together, these can safely be skipped altogether!

Problem with this song is that it was picked out to lead the "Ultimate" compilation, which is basically a reedition of "Discography". Should it have done on a proper album, it would have had far more attention.

By PSB's standards, "Together" has been a huge flop as a single, and it's not hard to see why. While the 3/4 time signature is unusual for the (somewhat cliched) production style, on a whole the song comes off as somewhat sterile and uninspired. Neither melody nor lyrics are particularly memorable.As is often the case with PSB, the real reason to get the single is for the b-side(s). The Grum remix of "West End Girls" is very well done. Unlike so many contemporary remixes, this is truly respectful of the original song, and not some DJ-of-the-minute taking a split-second sample and putting it on an entirely different track that will sound horribly dated by next year. Instead, it does what a remix should do: build upon the original, adding new elements and timbres to elevate the song to the next level.

I guess I'll be a little kinder. I just listened to the song for the first time and watched the video. First, the video itself is kind of neat. Not terribly original, but it's alright. The song definitely does not rank with their finest work, but I think it's catchy, though also not terribly original. Being in 3/4 is a little different for them, and ultimately I enjoyed the song. Luckily it's just a one-off single and hopefully it doesn't foretell any future direction, which I really doubt.I will say that they've become very compilation-happy in the last few years. With each successive album, it becomes that much harder to fit their best stuff on one disc, which they've once again attempted with Ultimate. Eventually they'll surpass Saint Etienne and maybe even Jimi Hendrix in the best-of department!I'm eagerly awaiting their next album though! "Yes" was fantastic.
