Folklore is the 4th studio album by 16 Horsepower, released in 2002. As hinted to by its name, most of the material on the album is drawn from traditional folk music. Only four of the songs ("Hutterite Mile," "Blessed Persistence," "Beyond the Pale" and "Flutter") on the album are original 16 Horsepower compositions. All tracks written by 16 Horsepower and David Eugene Edwards except where noted. Folklore at Metacritic.

The title, Horsepower, evokes everything that Triple Whip is now and was in the past. With the evolution of the band, they have always maintained. Horsepower" conjures visions of not just fast race cars, but a passionate, powerful and strong band. The strength of the music derives from the strength of that "feminine aspect" as well as the duo's defiance of what a "typical" band should look like. Triple Whip pushed ahead with regional touring, festival appearances, and 2003's album Slapshot, described by Playback STL as "progressive, punk, minimalistic and dense all at the same time. Punk Planet said, "It's refreshing to hear driving basslines and incessant drums overwhelm guitars now and then, especially if the band can pull it off. Triple Whip is that band: drum and bass upfront, discordant/jazzy guitar with speak/sing/shouting B-movie-inspired lyrics.
