With a history dating back to the early days of Sugar Hill Records, Kool Moe Dee was able to reinvent himself as a solo artist during the latter half of the '80s, and in the process helped rap transform from an underground party music into a cultural phenomenon. Greatest Hits collects 14 of the most essential items from this seminal figure, kicking off with his two best-known songs - the catchy "Wild Wild West" and the influential safe-sex rap "Go See the Doctor.

Mohandas Dewese (born August 8, 1962), better known by his stage name Kool Moe Dee, is an American hip hop MC prominent in the late 1970s through the early 1990s. He was one of the first rappers to earn a Grammy Award and was the first rapper to perform at the Grammys. One of Kool Moe Dee's first feats was being part of the first major rap battle in history. He lyrically attacked Busy Bee after one of his performances. In 1985, the Treacherous Three disbanded

Greatest Hits is a collection of emcee Kool Moe Dee's hit singles and other highlights of his hip hop career with Jive Records, 1986-1993. The album contains four newly recorded songs, "Gimme My Props," "Look At Me Now," "Whosgotdaflava," and "Can U Feel It," which was also released as a single. This release should not be confused with his 1991 album The Greatest Hits, which contains material recorded for Sugar Hill Records earlier in his career - both with the Treacherous Three and solo.
