Where Ironcrosses Grow starts out roaring and ends roaring; a loud, aggressive album all the way through, with that chainsaw guitar tone Dismember keeps alive leading the way. The band, mostly a three-piece during these sessions, is backed by suitable production standards enriching the guitar and bass combo with vivid depth. Estby’s pounds and hits are belligerent and competent, as it has always been since the early days. The focus is on the riffs first and foremost, with Kärki following with his bloodcurdling growls. Where Ironcrosses Grow is less gruesome than Death Metal, less dark than The God That Never Was, and tamer than Indecent & Obscene. It’s a middle ground that isn’t compelling as the debut or as melodic as Massive Killing Capacity, either, but it’ll get its point across. It's sort of on the same level as Hate Campaign in terms of riffs, songwriting, and melody.

Where Ironcrosses Grow Lyrics. Death is all around me, violence and decay Screams of the dying, never leave my mind. Hanging helpless in barbed wire, another helpless victim Cut to shreds in the rain of fire, bleeding, burning, suffering. Where blood and iron flow, the iron crosses grow. Piles of dismembered corpses, slaughtered and twisted Unseeing eyes, staring into nothingness. Where Ironcrosses Grow" Track Info.

Like many of the other Scandinavian death metal bands, Dismember began softening their sound in the mid-1990s, with 1995's Massive Killing Capacity more melodic approaches, which had a good public response. Nevertheless, they attempted a return to style with 1997's Death Metal, which ultimately became a sales disappointment. Their last album for Nuclear Blast was 2000's Hate Campaign. Switching labels (2003–2006). In 2004, they released their sole album with that label titled Where Ironcrosses Grow which some thought sounds close to Hate Campaign and was inspired by Iron Maiden and Autopsy.

Nonetheless, some Nordic death metal bands are more merciful than others, and Where Ironcrosses Grow represents the more musical side of Swedish death metal. For all its bombast and sledgehammer fury, this CD is less extreme than most of the death metal albums that were recorded in Sweden in the early 2000s. Dismember's lineup - lead singer Matti Karki, guitarist David Blomqvist, bassist Richard Cabeza, and drummer Fred Estby - is relatively melodic (at least by death metal/black metal standards), and the material often underscores the band's debt to '80s.

In reality, Where Ironcrosses Grow showed the band slowly but surely getting back on track with an incredibly solid release. What really holds this album back is predictability. We already knew Dismember can provide brutal riffs, but what’s missing from Where Ironcrosses Grow are the risks. It feels like Dismember were still in their comfort zone, every song treading along one after another, nothing really blowing the listener away like ‘Override of the Overture’ or ‘Dreaming in Red’ did on Like an Everflowing Stream and Indecent & Obscene respectively.

Performer: Dismember Album: Where Ironcrosses Grow Label: Karmageddon Media. Сырой, грязный, пахнущий железом, ржавый брутал, которому плевать на всякие там тренды. Группа Расчлени! осталась верна себе.
