Diabolical Boogie (Singles, Demos & Rarities: 1992 .
The Chrome Cranks were hardly the best or most original exponents of the raunchy punk blues hybrid that began to make the rounds in the early '90s (an assessment frontman Peter Aaron cops to in his liner notes to this set), but their commitment to sleaze and aural damage was second to none, and the rattling bellow of their horny but nihilistic.

In any hearty record collection, The Chrome Cranks would be wedged between Nick Cave and The Cramps. And rightly so. For out of the festering wasteland of rockabilly, thrash, punk and blues came the Cranks, slithering out of the muck to take a sledge hammer to central nervous systems and tympanic membranes everywhere. Three Cranks videos on enhanced disc two invite your eyeballs into hell, as well. But if digestion is your objective, this may not be your band anyway. The Cranks lived to gnaw and torture. My only complaint is that this one's not on vinyl. -Sharon Nichols, Chronogram magazine.

The Chrome Cranks subsequently took a brief hiatus as Weber moved to New York City later that year; during a return visit, however, Weber rejoined the band to record its first single. Despite that Weber subsequently joined GG Allin and the Murder Junkies, Aaron also moved to New York City in 1992 and re-established The Chrome Cranks, adding former Honeymoon Killers guitarist Jerry Teel on bass. They signed with PCP Entertainment, a label distributed by Matador Records. He first appeared on The Chrome Cranks' second album, Dead Cool, released on Crypt Records, though some of the drum tracks on that album were handled by Charles Hanson, an earlier drummer. 2007 Diabolical Boogie 2xCD (Atavistic Worldwide, US) Singles, demos, and rarities, 1992-1998. 2009 The Murder of Time (1993-1996) 2xLP/CD (Bang!
