Tell It to My Heart is the debut album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Dayne, released in 1988. It yielded four US top ten singles: "Tell It to My Heart" ( "Prove Your Love" ( "I'll Always Love You" ( and "Don't Rush Me" ( while the first two singles, "Tell It to My Heart" and "Prove Your Love", reached the UK top ten at and respectively. The album achieved double-platinum status in the US.
After he and cowriter Ernie Gold finished the tune, Swirsky nearly let his girlfriend talk him out of submitting it to Sony. Before she heard the demo, Dayne was recording dance tracks under the name Les Lee. Her producer, Ric Wake, knew right away the song had potential to cross over from the clubs to radio. If the single was a hit, the label could ask for an entire album-otherwise, she was canned

Taylor Dayne made a huge splash with the roaring dance/R&B title cut. Her big sound, flamboyant manner, and carefully calculated explosive delivery put her in the forefront at the time among female singers mixing soul and classic disco influences (Lisa Stansfield would soon emerge at the head of the class). The rest of the album is pleasant but inconsequential pop and dance filler.
