Antithesis' self-titled debut was something of a progressive USPM classic, despite its obscurity, and while the followup Dying for Life doesn't quite reach that level, it's still a solid slab of metal from this oft overlooked group. It's still USPM/thrash, but the proggy tendencies are dialed way back; in fact they're almost gone most of the time, only emerging in a few places. About half of the album is strong, with only mild flow issues (the title track is in particular a real treat), while the other half is relatively weak, with a lot of flow issues and seemingly haphazard placement of modern prog influences (especially on "Deceiver Within"). I would recommend this for fans of the genre, but it's certainly not its predecessor.
