Open the Door is the fourth album by Roger Hodgson, released in May 2000 by Epic Records and his third and most recent studio one (and his first studio release since 1987). Open the Door was recorded mostly in France and features mostly French musicians, many who have played on Excalibur (La Légende Des Celtes) also produced by Simon featuring contributions from Hodgson, as his backup band. This is Hodgson's only solo album to be partially recorded outside the United States.

Open the Door sounds like it could've been a Supertramp album from their heyday. Melodic songs, I've thoroughly enjoyed this album. I wish he'd write more-this work is now quite old (though the music seems timeless). Since their split up Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies of Supertramp have produced music that has ranked from marginal to exceptional but neither one has reached the heights that they did together. Open the Door" is a terrific solo album from Roger but its no exception; there are a number of tracks that would have benefited from Davies' rolling, thundering piano or bluesy backing vocals. Open the Door" demonstrates Roger in fine form after the so-so "Hai Hai" and solid but unspectacular live album "Rite of Passage".
