Surrounded is the third box set by Icelandic musician Björk, released on 27 June 2006 through One Little Indian. It is a collection of seven of her studio albums, issued in the DualDisc format-one side contains the original longplayers, while the other one includes their remastered versions in surround sound, in tandem with music videos and additional features.

Björk is the only studio album by Icelandic singer Björk Guðmundsdóttir as a child singer, released on 18 December 1977 by Fálkinn. In 1976, Björk appeared on Icelandic radio singing "I Love to Love" through the music school she attended, which led her to a record deal and the release, with the help of stepfather Sævar, of her first solo album in 1977.

Surrounded (Björk album). Surrounded is the third box set by Icelandic musician Björk. It was released on 27 June 2006 through One Little Indian. Surrounded compiles reissues of five of Björk's studio albums-Debut (1993), Post (1995), Homogenic (1997), Vespertine (2001) and Medúlla (2004)-in addition to Selmasongs (2000), and Drawing Restraint 9 (2005), her soundtrack albums. They are pressed in DualDiscs, which possess both a CD side and a DVD side.

In this decade, Björk's release schedule has ballooned from excessive to patently opportunistic. Since 2000, she's augmented her usual stream of full-lengths, CD singles, DVD singles, 12" singles, bobbleheads, pudding spoons, and pogs with (deep breath): the Cambridge, MTV Unplugged and Live at Shepherd's Bush DVDs; the Inside Björk documentary DVD; four separate live CDs spanning Debut, Post, Homogenic, and Vespertine; the Vessel, Later With Jools Holland, and Miniscule DVDs; three. Instead we get Surrounded, a 7xCD box containing DualDisc remasters of each Björk full-length. Connected to: DualDisc Studio album Music video. Surrounded is the third box set by Icelandic musician Björk, released on 27 June 2006 through One Little Indian.

The former contains each album as originally released, whereas they appear remastered in both DTS and Dolby . on the latter. Paul 'P-Dub' Walton was the project's sound engineer, having been responsible for the remasters

Paul PDub Walton, who had previously mixed the Drawing Restraint 9 soundtrack, oversaw the remixing and remastering, despite Mark Stent being responsible for mixing the albums Post through to Medúlla. com/Surrounded (Björk album). Bjørk is a Faroese, Danish & Norwegian given name meaning birch.

Talk about Björk - Surrounded

How do these sound folded down through a stereo system? I have the Vespertine DVD-A and have listened to the 5.1 mix through stereo... I enjoy how different it sounds from the CD, an unintentional effect through two channels.

On the Homogenic-DVD (5.1 DTS-Format) you can find only the "All is full of Love (Mark Stent & Marius Defries Radio Mix)" - Video Version (Time: 04:48).Original-Album-Version of "All is full of Love" is not contain!

As a huge fan of both Björk and multichannel surround music, I had to buy every 5.1 release from Miss Gudmundsdottir.I have been listening to many surround mixes from various artists, and my feelings are mixed regarding those Björk albums.Mr. Paul 'P-Dub' Walton has done a wonderful job on one hand, but that could have been much better on the other. I think he has succeeded in creating a rich and deep world of sounds with all the instruments. But I really think he has more than once messed up the vocals. The balance has not been met.The best example for this is on almost every song of "Homogenic". Björk's main vocals (I am not talking about background vocals here) come out of all five speakers at the same time which, instead of adding depth to the mix, creates confusion for the listener. The voice in surround mixing has to be located on the front stage in order to get a logical sound scene. It's OK to put background vocals everywhere, but not the main vocals.Furthermore, if your sound system is not calibrated 100% right, you'll get the feeling that Björk's voice is located more in one speaker than the others.I know that vocals don't have to be located on the center speaker all the time for music, unlike movies, but that doesn't mean that there is no standard to apply when mixing a record for surround sound purpose.
