Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks is the ninth solo studio album by British ambient musician Brian Eno, released in 1983. It was written, produced, and performed by Brian Eno, his brother Roger and Daniel Lanois. Music from the album appeared in the films 28 Days Later, Traffic, and Trainspotting, whose soundtrack sold approximately four million copies. Two of the songs from the album, "Silver Morning" and "Deep Blue Day", were issued as a 7" single on EG Records.

Written-By – Brian Eno (tracks: 1, 3 to 7, 9 to 12), Daniel Lanois (tracks: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 to 10, 12), Roger Eno (tracks: 7, 9 to 11). Notes. This is the soundtrack to a film about the Apollo missions by Al Reinert. Similar to Brian Eno With Daniel Lanois & Roger Eno - Apollo - Atmospheres & Soundtracks.

Brian Eno discusses Reflection. Reflection is the latest work in a long series. It started (as far as record releases are concerned) with Discreet Music in 1975 ( - or did it start with the first Fripp and Eno album in 1973? Or did it start with the first original piece of music I ever made, at Ipswich Art School in 1965 - recordings of a metal lampshade slowed down to half and quarter speed, all overlaid?) Anyway, it’s the music that I later called ‘Ambient’.

From Brian Eno's Original Masters Soundtracks Series comes Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks. Originally released in 1983 on EG Records, this Virgin incarnation betters the sound quality of the earlier Caroline CD release of this title and is a vast improvement over the vinyl. One can hear super deep tones in the music reproduced for the first time in a full-throated manner, and the perspective of distance opens into vast vistas of the emptiness of space, rather than into a haze of tracking error as did the long player.

The 11 new tracks on Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks find Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois and Roger Eno working collectively for the first time since the original album in 1983. Lanois contributed 3 compositions; ‘Capsule’, ‘Last Step From The Surface’ and ‘Fine-grained’, while Roger Eno’s are ‘Waking Up’, ‘Under The Moon’ and ‘Strange Quiet’. Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks is out on 19 July.

Today, Daniel Lanois touches on his new collaboration with Brian Eno, Capsule. In the 50 years since man first landed on the moon, it sometimes feels like humanity has devolved. Especially in a political climate like today’s, when science is seen as ignorable theory rather than a conclusion of facts, and differences are highlight more than similarities. The song comes from the upcoming reissue of Eno’s seminal 1983 album Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks, specifically the accompanying LP of fresh material, For All Mankind. The collection takes its name from Al Reinert’s Apollo 11 documentary for which the original record served as a soundtrack.

Atmospheres & soundtracks. The original ‘Apollo’ album remastered for the first time + ‘For all mankind’, a brand new album of 11 instrumentals released july 19th.

Extended edition coming in July to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon landing.https://www.residentadvisor.net/news/43732

Vinyl selected as a top quality test disc by what hifi nerds in the Haynes vinyl manual.

"Silver Morning" kills the atmosphere on this otherwise great album, it just feels so out of place and I find it to be quite jarring in it's effect, in my iTunes playlist I omit this track and Apollo works much better as an album without it for me.

What about a 35-year anniversary re-press on vinyl?!? Would love this to be re-released (as many of Eno's other albums have been recently)
Malann
Ingenious! I listen 'Apollo' now for 33 years - its timeless and incredible soothing. Again and again and again. Thanks so much, Brian, Daniel & Roger.

Totally deserving of a beautiful new vinyl reissue -- please?!

this is a completely beautiful work - as indeed the majority of Eno's output!composed for the film produced by Al Reinert documenting the Apollo space missions, originally titled "Apollo 11" then edited & re-released as "For All Mankind"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_All_Mankind
