Bazoumana Sissoko (1890-1987) (sometimes spelled Banzounama or Banzumana) born blind in the city of Segou, was a famous Malian Jeli and N'goni player. After Independance he was asked to record his repertory. He also composed what would in 1962 become the national anthem of the Republic of Mali.

Oumar Sissoko (born 13 September 1987) is a Malian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Le Havre and the Mali national team. His cousin Mohamed Sissoko is also a professional footballer and was also capped for Mali. Sissoko was born in Montreuil, France. In the 2011–12 season he was given the number 1 jersey at FC Metz. After a four-year spell in Metz, Sissoko signed a three-year contract with Ligue 1 side AC Ajaccio in June 2012.
