Under the Westway" is a single by English band Blur, released in July 2012. After being played by Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon at Brixton Academy as part of a charity performance for War Child, speculation rose as to "Under the Westway"'s release

After Under The Westway, stick around for a Twitter interview with the band. Then, Blur will perform The Puritan in just about an hour (at 2:15 EST). UPDATE : The first time we heard The Puritan was in mid-June when it was performed by Damon Albarn at London’s Poetry Olympics. Clearly - indisputably - the band is in fine form after nine goddamn years since their last album (and 13 years since their last album with Graham as a full-time member). Is it too much to hope for a new album? A . tour? What if we beg? Watch the lyric videos for both songs below. Tags: Blur, Damon Albarn. YBN Cordae – Bad Idea (Feat. Chance The Rapper) Video.

The old school was due and the traffic grew. Upon the westway Where I stood watching comets, lonesome trails. Shining up above me the jet flew, it fell Down to earth where the money always comes first And the sirens sing. Bring us the day they switch off the machines 'Cause men in yellow jackets putting adverts inside my dreams. An automated song and the whole world gone Fallen under the spell of the distance between us when we communicate. Still picking up short wave, somewhere they're out in space, It depends how you're wired when the night's on fire.

I love the song 'Under the Westway' - to me it sounds like Blur remade the epic feel of their song 'The Universal' with a low key sonic mentality in which they tackled their album 13. It's like Blur opened the door to their cozy shack and inviting me back in to relax and catch up on old times. The playfulness of 'The Puritan' is nice - but it's somewhat awkwardly paired with 'Under the Westway' though. The Puritan' feels like a sonically hyper charged update of something off of the bouncy Modern Life is Rubbish album

Talk about Blur - Under The Westway / The Puritan

I have to admit that I absolutely love Under The Westway - it's a beautiful and wistful ballad that sounds very heartfelt. It's easily up there with their best work I think. I can't say the same for The Purtian though. It seems to be popular enough with other fans but for me it's just a bit too frantic and I'm not a big lover of the melody. In saying that though, if this is the last release Blur ever put out (I hope it isn't though) then Under The Westway is a fine way to bow out indeed.

Blur have always been rather experimental with some of their b-sides. Under The Westway is without doubt an Albarn song (a very good one at that). The Puritan (which I also like) sounds to me like a Graham Coxon song sung by Damon. Listen to it and imagine Graham singing...
