With their second album, Miles Smiles, the second Miles Davis Quintet really began to hit their stride, delving deeper into the more adventurous, exploratory side of their signature sound. This is clear as soon as "Orbits" comes crashing out the gate, but it's not just the fast, manic material that has an edge - slower, quieter numbers are mercurial, not just in how they shift melodies and chords, but how the voicing and phrasing never settles into a comfortable groove.

Talons are a 6-piece instrumental band from Hereford. They formed in 2008, having previously played together in bands belonging to the Hereford music scene. Talons formed in 2008 as a reincarnation of an older band, Kites, with an altered line up. They signed to Big Scary Monsters in 2009, releasing their debut single, "The Pearl" in late summer. Once the band began to tour heavily, they released three singles in the buildup to a full-length record.
