Mob Rules is the 10th studio album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in November 1981. It followed 1980's Heaven and Hell, and it was the second and last Black Sabbath studio album to feature lead vocalist Ronnie James Dio prior to the 1992 album Dehumanizer.

1981's Mob Rules was the second Black Sabbath album to feature vertically challenged singer Ronnie James Dio, whose powerful pipes and Dungeons and Dragons lyrics initially seemed like the perfect replacement for the recently departed and wildly popular Ozzy Osbourne. In fact, all the ingredients which had made their first outing, Heaven and Hell, so successful are re-utilized on this album, including legendary metal producer Martin Birch (Deep Purple, Whitesnake, et. and supporting keyboard player Geoff Nichols

The title track is another political track, reminiscent of the older Sabbath material. Tony Iommi showcases once again his amazing talent with guitar riffs and solos (keep in mind, that he's doing this with two fingers and two prosthetic fingers. Just the mere fact that he is able to keep doing this for so many years proved that he is definitely one of the great guitar heroes of our time).

Mob Rules is the tenth studio album by Black Sabbath. It was recorded at Record Plant, Los Angeles, California and released on November 4, 1981. The Sign of the Southern Cross. Falling Off the Edge of the World. Ronnie James Dio: Vocals. Geoff Nicholls: Keyboards. Martin Birch: producer and engineer. Eddie DeLena and Angelo Arcuri: assistant engineers.

Black Sabbath's tenth album Mob Rules was released in late October of 1981 (in time for Christmas shopping here in the US). Many fans of Black Sabbath must have thought that Ozzy Osbourne's firing from the band would have ruined Black Sabbath but the acquisition of (the late great) Ronnie James Dio was equipped with a great singer who gave Sabbath its heaviest album in years with 1980s Heaven and Hell. The second Black Sabbath offering of the Ronnie James Dio era, Mob Rules doesn't quite live up to Dio's first effort with the band, but it's still an album worth hearing. A mix of the styles on Heaven and Hell and the more experimental material from the Ozzy era, Mob Rules has a darker feel, in some aspects, than Sabbath had had, at this point, for many years. And there are some really great tracks to be found on this one.
