It was released through the Domino Recording Company on 26 August 2013 in the United Kingdom and on 27 August in the United States. It was the band's first studio album since Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, which was released four years earlier. Recorded during 2013, the album was recorded in multiple studios in different locations.

Their latest release, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, doesn’t transport us to foreign and startling musical territories, nor does it usher in a new musical epoch of any kind. Time and place is not altered at all by this or any of their other released work, but that shouldn’t be any issue. Franz Ferdinard’s new and fourth studio album, and its first since 2009’s Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, opens riding one of the most infectious grooves the band has ever laid down. Right Action, thick with a circular bass line and a wall of guitars, is the kind of smart dance pop that catapulted the Scottish rockers to fame nearly a decade ago. That’s when Franz Ferdinand, arriving in a fertile indie-rock scene that ushered in the Killers and Arctic Monkeys, hit big with Take Me Out.

After a four year hiatus, Franz Ferdinand release their fourth album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, a collection produced by the band with Bjorn Yttling and Todd Terje. It finds them reestablishing themselves as a workmanlike, crowd-pleasing dance-rock group by going heavy on the midtempo disco thump. Mostly though, ‘Right Thought. hinges on embracing what Franz do well and aiming to do it better. But it’s not all about looking back. With Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard joining previous collaborator Björn Yttling (of Peter Bjorn And John fame) on production duties, there’s a freshness to the sound, most notable on ‘Evil Eye’, which is, essentially Snoop Dogg’s ‘What’s My Name?’ via Rockwell’s ‘Somebody’s Watching Me’ – creepy, jumpy and as funky as James Brown’s ghost. After 35 minutes, the album finishes, and you want to play it again.

Sound - 8 Franz Ferdinand was formed in or around 2002 and has maintained their original lineup to date. Their debut self-titled album released in 2004, having already received a lot of buzz for their lead single " Take Me Out. The band started work on their second album very shortly after this, releasing " You Could Have It So Much Better " just one year later in 2005. By the point their second album released they were considered one of the hottest "indie" bands active at the time. Their third album, " Tonight: Franz Ferdinand," wasn't released. The album has 10 tracks and clocks in at around 35 minutes, and is being released by Domino Records. The album as a whole has a lot of "bounce" to it, and for the most part remains high energy. The album opens up with the track " Right Action," which is carried by a catchy guitar riff and good vocal hook.
