Strangers in the Night is a 1966 studio album by Frank Sinatra. It marked Sinatra's return to number one on the pop album charts in the mid-1960s, and consolidated the comeback he started in 1965. Combining pop hits with show tunes and standards, the album creates a balance between big band and pop instrumentation.
Frank Sinatra recorded Strangers in the Night April 11, 1966. According to Sinatra: The Life (Summers, Swan, 2006), Sinatra despised the song and called it a piece of shit and, per Frank Sinatra by Jean-Pierre Hombach, worst fucking song that I have ever heard. Nevertheless, it would become his first No. 1 hit since 1955’s Learning the Blues. The song was based on the song Broken Guitar by Avo Uvezian and rewritten by Bert Kaemphert with English lyrics by Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyder.
