Sinkane (born Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab c. 1983 in London, England) is a Sudanese-American musician who blends krautrock, prog rock, electronica, free jazz and funk rock with Sudanese pop. He is signed to City Slang Records. Born to college professors in London, he lived in Sudan, then moved to the US when he was five, and lived for some time in Ohio On 6 March 2017 Sinkane made their television network debut on Conan.

A decade ago, in an instantly notorious New Yorker piece called A Paler Shade Of White, the critic Sasha Frere-Jones wrote sadly about how, as he saw it, indie rock had abandoned any sense of rhythm. Frere-Jones wrote about going to see Arcade Fire, when that band was at its most anthemic, and he wrote about what he didn’t hear: What I really wanted to hear, after a stretch of raucous sing-alongs, was a bit of swing, some empty space, and palpable bass frequencies - in other words, attributes of African-American popular music.

Rather than develop his sound further on Life & Livin' It, Gallab seems content to coast with it for a while. And in many respects, that's not a bad thing, especially on the lead single "U'Huh. It contains all the elements that have made his music so engaging up to now: Afro-beat cadences, funky guitar licks, and his own soulful falsetto. In addition, it emits unrelentingly good vibes delivered with real groove, which makes it a wonderful antidote to uncertain times, and an early contender for a summer's anthem
