Garcia is Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia's first solo album, released in 1972. Records offered the Grateful Dead the opportunity to cut their own solo records, and Garcia was released around the same time as Bob Weir's Ace and Mickey Hart's Rolling Thunder. Unlike Ace, which was practically a Grateful Dead album, Garcia was more of a solo effort, as Garcia played almost all the instrumental parts.

Jerry Garcia's second solo effort initially bore the same eponymous title as his first. A parenthetical "Compliments Of" was originally featured on promotional copies that bore the words atop the "Garcia" moniker. The name was officially changed in the late '80s, when the platter evolved into the CD format, to alleviate any confusion between the two very different recordings.

Originally released in 1974, Garcia (Compliments Of) is Jerry's second full-length solo studio album. Produced by long-time collaborator John Kahn, the track list boasts classics from artists like Chuck Berry, Smokey Robinson, and Peter Rowan. This record showcases an all-star cast of the 1970's most in-demand session players: drummer Ron Tutt, guitarist Larry Carlton (Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell), organist Merl Saunders, and legendary backing vocalists Merry Clayton and Clydie King among others.

Jerome John "Jerry" Garcia (August 1, 1942 – August 9, 1995) was an American musician who was best known for his lead guitar work, singing and songwriting with the band the Grateful Dead. Though he disavowed the role, Garcia was viewed by many as the leader or "spokesman" of the group. Garcia (Compliments) Album.
