The Strange Death of Liberal England is a book written by George Dangerfield published in 1935. Its thesis is that Liberal Party in Great Britain ruined itself in dealing with the House of Lords, women's suffrage, the Irish question, and trade unions, 1906-1914. It was named by the Modern Library in 1998 as one of the "100 Best Nonfiction Books" published in the 20th century. In recent decades, most scholars have rejected its main interpretations.

The Strange Death of Liberal England (band). The Strange Death of Liberal England, also known as TSDOLE, were a five-piece English band from Portsmouth. Their influences range from folk to indie rock to post rock with this diversity creating a large number of followers, including BBC Radio One DJs Steve Lamacq, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens. For that, alone, it is fascinating. But, there are glaring flaws.

Dangerfield’s thesis challenged the then current theory that the Liberal Party was alive and well until the First World War imposed intolerable strains upon it. His view was that not only the Liberal Party but the very idea of Liberalism itself was cracking under the strain of internal crises even before 1914. Historians have argued about the validity of the 'Dangerfield thesis' and the consensus now is that he overstated his case and that both the Liberal Party and the internal cohesion of the nation were in better shape than he allows for by the time war intervened in 1914
