Urban Hymns is the third studio album by English alternative rock band The Verve, released on 29 September 1997 on Hut Records. It earned nearly unanimous critical praise upon its release, and went on to become the band's best-selling release and one of the biggest selling albums of the year. As of 2015, Urban Hymns is ranked the 19th best-selling album in UK chart history and has sold over ten million copies worldwide.

Rebellion Hymns isn't exactly a flawless record, though. While there are absolutely no misfires amid the long tracks which hardly ever overstay their welcome, the frequent interludes often disrupt the flow of the disc instead of maintaining it. Putting this petty shortcoming aside, the new Man's Gin endeavor proves both exceptionally far-reaching and achingly personal. It also marks a resounding triumph for Wunder whose tremendous talent for crafting poignant folk rock is in a class by itself

Ten bands are featured: the Unseen, Virus, Varukers, Lower Class Brats, Self Destruct, the Restarts, Tom and Bootboys, Bollocks, Funeral Dress, and Distraught, each playing three songs, including rare and unreleased tracks. Likewise, Texas' Lower Class Brats, who never fail to impress, play two of the best songs on the entire disc: "Orphans Don't Run" and what could be an alternate title to this CD-the infectious "Chaos, Riot, Ruin. Boston's Self Destruct, composed of members of the Unseen and A Global Threat (how could these guys NOT deliver?) offer three massive tracks, including the manic opener "It's Living Hell" and "Diplomatic Immunity.
