Back to Mine is a series of mix albums, usually mixed by renowned DJs or composers of electronic music. The compilations usually feature artists other than the artist compiling the album, and are based on what the artist would play at home after a night out, rather than as part of a nightclub session. The first volume was released in February 1999 by DJ Nick Warren. Since volume seven, the albums have borne the subtitle "a personal collection for after-hours grooving".

The last Back to Mine compilation that I bought (Orbital) didn't exactly set my ears on fire. Dave Seaman has moments of this on some of his mixes (I'm thinking of his Renaissance Worldwide set) and some other mellow turns in his mixes. But these are sporadic and are used to build towards a climax of some kind. A big fan of Danny Tenaglia, I stumbled upon his Back to Mine CD some time ago and found it a pleasant change, good for some chill time.

This was the first CD to really get me into downtempo/ambient electronic. Its still as good as any chillout mix today.
Makaitist
Nice track selection, very ambient, good background music, Craig Armstrong's Weather Storm (which features on massive Attack's Protection) and Sasha's Baja are highlights for me.

trying to find the sasha track : Baja (Port Douglas Mix) is some what difficult ! .. awsome lp mind . nicks takes some beating though in my opionion. still awsome either way you look at it . my advice. buy them all !

Beautiful and epic, not as good as Nick Warren's, which in my humble opinion is the best of the series and my fave chill out compilation but netherless this is very good. Any comp with the sublime Gorecki by Lamb is always worth checking out.

While the track selection is good, it does sort of feel like Dave Seaman didn't bring his A-game. This is very noticable in the mixing, which at times contains more than a few errors. The biggest offender in this regard is the transition from Genetica to Sasha, where the time signature is thrown completely off, resulting in a messy transition that can take one out of the experience.A solid release, but the mixing leaves something to be desired, which is a disappointment from Seaman, who's mixing is usually rock solid.

The second release in the fabulous "Back to Mine" series. Each artist gets to present you with their favorite songs, as they would play them for you at an after hours party. Dave Seaman's take on this is pure class. He presents us with a smooth flowing, and chilly journey through some great tracks. Favorites are the Craig Armstrong track, Depeche Mode, and the Sneaker Pimps. The journey ends with one of, if not the most beautiful songs ever, Lamb's "Gorecki". A heart felt ending to a wonderful disc.

This really is one superb selection of chillage. The Back To Mine series is brilliant, but this is one of the highlights. Craig Armstrong's "Weather Storm" takes things deep, then Sasha's "Baja" brings you up into bliss, and by K&D's mix of The Mode's "Useless", your'e so relaxed you probably don't have a pulse, but when the closer, the overwhelming "Gorecki" by Lamb comes in, you will probably know what's it's like to be a battery that's just been recharged. Dave is criminally underrated, and this mix shows he is one of a few that can do both chilled and banging with equal brilliance.

Dave releases another stellar CD. The more albums of his i listen to the more i admire this man. His track selection is phenomenal and his mixing is amazing! BTM is a downtempo chillout journey that i highly recommend anybody investigate! (5/5)
