Notes

Track A2 - it is now generally considered that this Aria da Chiesa attributed to Stradella is of doubtful authenticity and is now thought to have been composed by Louis Niedermeyer (1802-1861), a Swiss composer.

Track B1 - Gounod's lovely melody has been cleverly superimposed on the first prelude from Bach's 48 Preludes and Fugues which now serves as the accompaniment.

Track B4 - One of the world's most famous Latin hymns, usually sung today in English translation as 'O Come All Ye Faithful'. The music is thought to be of British origin with both the words and music attributed to John F. Wade, a Latin teacher and music copyist who died in 1786. This original version probably dates from between 1740-1743.

Recorded January 1976 at All Saints, Petersham.
