Meat Loaf was and always will be a LIVE performer and you cannot capture his stage energy in the studio. If you have not had the pleasure of seeing him live I would strongly recommend it, although as the years go on you obviously are dealing with the reality of the aging process. The song selection is not the first choice for the casual fan but I like the fact that there are songs on this album that have not appeared on his past live albums. In addition, I have never heard a version of Black Betty as awesome as this.
