Ocean Colour Scene were formed after two other bands called The Boys and Fanatics disbanded. Fanatics released an EP titled Suburban Love Songs Their first single, "Sway", was released in September 1990 indie era. However, when their record label was swallowed up by larger company Phonogram their eponymous début album was remixed, against the band's wishes, to fit in with the Madchester musical trend of the time. Releases in 2001 (Mechanical Wonder), 2003 (North Atlantic Drift), 2005 (A Hyperactive Workout For The Flying Squad) and 2007 (On the Leyline) continued the trend of releasing new material every two years. 2004 saw the band release their first live album, Live: One For The Road. The album was a compilation of nineteen live tracks taken from various concerts.

On the Leyline is the eighth studio album by Ocean Colour Scene. It was released on 30 April 2007 and entered the UK album charts on 6 May 2007, peaking at N. 7, lasting only a single week in the top 75. Steve Cradock. Stephen John "Steve" Cradock (born 22 August 1969 in Solihull) is an English guitarist, most notable for playing in the rock group Ocean Colour Scene. Cradock also plays the guitar in Paul Weller's band, having appeared on all of Weller's solo records following his self-titled debut solo album. It is taken from their 2005 album A Hyperactive Workout for the Flying Squad and was the second and final single to be released from the album, after "Free My Name". Despite regular radio play on Radio 2, the single had little promotion and also did not have a music video made. Timeline of alternative rock.

Ocean Colour Scene's seventh album, Hyperactive Workout for the Flying Squad, bears a title that's far busier and more unpredictable than the music contained within the 13 songs. Like every record they've recorded since their trad rock makeover on their second album, 1996's Moseley Shoals, Hyperactive is a tasteful, well-crafted, earnest collection of classicist rock.

Ocean Colour Scene return to remind us that no one loves the mid-'60s beat boom more than they d. .The basic problem with A Hyperactive Workout for the Flying Squad is that it has a tendency to fuzz that fine line between inspiration and imitation.

A new version of Last. A Hyperactive Workout for the Flying Squad. Overview (current section).

Patience has been a keyword for all fans of Ocean Colour Scene throughout their 15-year career - but those that have survived mediocre albums Mechanical Wonder (2001) and North Atlantic Drift (2003) - have been rewarded with A Hyperactive Workout For The Flying Squad. One must again be patient, however,as this is one of those albums that is a definite 'grower'. Tracklistings come from MusicBrainz.

Without it Ocean Colour Scene would still be shambling from gig to gig in Birmingham, yet something's fishy about their sixth album's cocksure title. Don't get me wrong; they love their rock, but there's nothing "hyperactive" about them creatively. Guitarist Steve Cradock has undoubtedly logged countless hours absorbing classic rock fakebooks, and singer Simon Fowler attacks every song like a karaoke fiend- a telling likeness considering three songs here are covers and several more could be misconstrued as such
