Don "Campbellock" Campbell (January 7, 1951 in Saint Louis, Missouri) is an American dancer and choreographer best known for having invented the "locking" dance, and for his work with the Lockers which included former member Fred Berry. Campbell discovered dance while studying commercial art at Los Angeles Trade–Technical College. In 1971, Campbell joined the cast of Soul Train once the program arrived in Los Angeles

Don Campbell is the founder locking and originally, Locking was called The Campbellock - a style that was based on the dance and song that Don Campbell created. Individual members' contributions (as soloist performers) to the dance style and group image coupled with their unique presentation in staging and concept broke down many barriers. He was with Don Campbell’s 2nd group until he left to Japan in 1980. in 1973 he founded the Lockers. Hip Hop and The Blueprint presented by Dance Education Laboratory at the 92nd St Y. The Lockers.

In 1973, Toni Basil and Don "Campbellock" Campbell created The Lockers, pioneers of street dance. And they were fantastic. Life for the dancers can be traced back to 1971, when Soul Train presenter Don Cornelius took his rival to Dick Clark’s American Bandstand from his native Chicago to L. and you can bet your last money, it’s all gonna be a stone gas, honey!
