Bleeding Heart is one of several names given to albums of a 1968 jam session with Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and others. The albums were fashioned from an informal two-track tape recording made by Hendrix that was subsequently stolen from his apartment. Although it presents a unique setting, critics and biographers have generally found fault with the sound quality and Morrison's performance.
With Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell deftly holding the groove, Hendrix plays his blues-based runs, sustained feedback shrills, and whammy bar dive-bombs over top before falling back lock step into the groove on "Outside Women Blues. Tight and inspired, the band missteps on a rambling and disjointed jam of John Lennon and Paul McCartney's "Tomorrow Never Knows" and their own "Uranus Rock," which feature Jim Morrison falling down, mumbling, and shouting obscenities the whole time.
Jimi played guitar, jamming good with Billy and Buddy and the Experience – no, wait, that was Ziggy. But Hendrix was almost certainly a model for Bowie’s space crawler, an electric deity who sacrificed himself as he took it all too far. His music was haunted by death from the start – Will I live tomorrow? he asked on his first album – and he chased after it at a furious pace, recording more than 70 times in the year before his passing.

On February 18, 1969, The Jimi Hendrix Experience played a concert at The Royal Albert Hall in London, England. Here’s a cool photo of the band during soundcheck that day. Ironically, the most amazing thing that happened that day was not on stage during the concert. It was backstage, when Jimi Hendrix picked up an acoustic guitar and started jamming for a small crowd. With his girlfriend Monika Dannemann standing right up front, Jimi tunes up and rips into an amazing version of Hound Dog. It’s so good you might have to watch it a few times.
A self-taught guitarist, Hendrix began his musical career backing such R&B greats as Ike and Tina Turner, Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, Little Richard, The Isley Brothers, and . Brought to London from New York by former Animals bassist Chas Chandler, Hendrix quickly established himself as the brightest new star on the burgeoning progressive rock scene of the early '60s. Along with bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell he formed The Jimi Hendrix Experience

This was a time of dramatic transition for the iconic guitarist, as the Jimi Hendrix Experience splintered and the trio’s leader went on to experiment with several new musical ensembles, perhaps most notably the Band of Gypsys with Hendrix’s army buddy Billy Cox on bass and drummer/vocalist Buddy Miles, popular at the time for his work with Mike Bloomfield’s.
