Deep Blue is a concept album focused around a mans journey as he is dragged to the bottom of the ocean away from his home city and must face new truths and nihilistic views. His journey through the sea seems to start at the end of Sleepwalker when our narrator first leaves the city. The ocean theme is used heavily throughout the album. Crashing waves, undertow, and drowning depict the burden of his newfound hopelessness. Being lost at sea is a metaphor for seeking his own truth and purpose. Bell toured European and American nightclubs to promote the album. The album features fourteen tracks, co-written and produced throughout 2004 and 2005 with electronic music duo Manhattan Clique, who have worked as remixers for acts such as Moby, The B-52's, Stereophonics, Goldfrapp, Fischerspooner and Erasure.
