Live-Evil is an album of both live and studio recordings by American jazz musician Miles Davis. They were performed as lengthy, dense jams in the jazz-rock style, while the studio recordings were renditions of Hermeto Pascoal compositions. The album was originally released on November 17, 1971.

Rust on the lock Dust on the floor It's been too long To know what's in store Pieces of the past Memories to explore All that's left behind Is what we knew before. And all we thought would be there Might not be around anymore. And though we try To stand there and ignore What lies behind the door We'll take our fears And shake them to the core As we reach out for Something more. Cellar Door" Track Info.

A mother lode of mind-expanding live music from 1970, the six-disc Cellar Door Sessions marks the moment just before jazz-rock fusion perverted itself into a marketing ploy. Here is Miles Davis, sonic seeker, sending desolate streaks of wah-wah trumpet into the unmapped ethos. His bursts of not-jazz galvanize a rhythm team that respects the backbeat yet delights in trampling convention - listen closely and you’ll hear blues cliches and James Brown riffs profoundly and purposefully mangled

Cellar Door was recorded just a few months following the release of After the Gold Rush; CSNY had broken up that summer. According to Rolling Stone, Young was rehearsing for two December dates at Carnegie Hall. He debuted "Old Man" and "See the Sky About to Rain" at Cellar Door, and also played two Buffalo Springfield songs alongside his own classics. Artists In This Story.
