Miami Vice was a popular 1980s television series most noted for its use of pop music. Throughout its five season run, the series released multiple albums. In 2002, after extensive pressure from fans of the show, Jan Hammer finally released a more comprehensive collection of the score music he wrote for Miami Vice

Miami Vice II: New Music From The Television Series Miami Vice Audio CD. Jan Hammer. but this collection, despite its value, is still missing key Miami Vice numbers, such as Ted Nugent's incomparable "little miss dangerous".

Like most sequels, Miami Vice II doesn't touch the first soundtrack, but still includes the excellent Jan Hammer opening and two other stalwart instruments mixed in with some real oddities. The Last Unbroken Heart" is one of those sery duets that hopefully passed with '80s movies. The sterile commercialism of the period also hurts Gladys Knight and Steve Jones.

Season 2 of Miami Vice featured 96 songs during the course of its 22 episodes, although "Bass and Trouble" by Sly and Robbie appears twice, reducing the count of unique tracks to 95 (still by far the most of any season of the show). As with season 1, the majority of the music featured is light pop, although a greater number of darker, more sombre tracks are used where appropriate.
