Sin’ and ‘Stranded in Hell’ weren’t pure thrashers but on the aggressive side of speed metal. Radiation Sickness’ and ‘After the Holocaust’ are high quality thrashers that indicate the path Nuclear Assault would choose on later albums. Something which also could be said about the anthemic classic ‘Brain Death’ with the exception of its slightly overstretched mid paced middle section. What becomes most obvious on Game Over is that Nuclear Assault simply sound at their best when playing at full speed. Even though John Connelly has the ability to mix screaming with what might be called vocal lines, he excels when the whole band speeds up.

Game Over (Nuclear Assault album). Game Over is the debut album by thrash metal band Nuclear Assault, released in 1986. In 2005, Game Over was ranked number 287 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time. All tracks written by Nuclear Assault. After the release of Anthrax's debut album Fistful of Metal, bass player Danny Lilker, a founding member of the group, was fired by the band. He decided to pursue a more aggressive style of music and formed Nuclear Assault with guitarist/vocalist John Connelly.
