This work is based on the Chinese folk-tale "Leung San Bak & Tseuk Ying Toi" a tragic love affair. Leung & Tseuk", a young couple was denied permission to be married by their respective family traditions. And they took their own lives finally. The story goes on to tell that they were then transformed into two butterflies and lived happily ever after.

Igor Stravinsky's Violin Concerto in D is a neoclassical violin concerto in four movements, composed in the summer of 1931 and premiered on October 23, 1931. It lasts approximately twenty minutes.
