Waiting in Vain" is a song written by reggae musician Bob Marley and recorded by Bob Marley & The Wailers, for his 1977 album Exodus. Released as a single, it hit number twenty-seven in the UK Singles Chart. The single was one of only a few of Marley's Island singles to feature a non-album B-Side, this being the song "Roots", an outtake from the Rastaman Vibration sessions.

I don't wanna wait in vain for your love I don't wanna wait in vain for your love From the very first time I rest my eyes on you, girl My heart says follow t'rough But I know, now, that I'm way down on your line But the waitin' feel is fine So don't treat me like a. puppet on a string 'Cause I know I have to do my thing Don't talk to me as if you think I'm dumb I wanna know when you're gonna come - soon I don't wanna wait in vain for your love I don't wanna wait in vain for your love I don't wanna wait in vain for your. The single release of this song featured the non-album song "Roots" as the B-side. Root" was an outtake from "Rastaman Vibration" sessions. Waiting In Vain" was presumably written by Bob Marley to Cindy Breakspeare, the mother of Damian Marley.
