Journey to the End of the Night is the debut studio album by the Norwegian progressive metal band Green Carnation, released by The End Records on 28 May 2000. This is also the last composition by Green Carnation featuring Christian "X" Botteri. The title is a reference to Louis-Ferdinand Celine's novel Journey to the End of the Night. Green Carnation is a progressive metal band from Kristiansand, Norway formed in 1990. Green Carnation's trend of music has continuously become less and less heavy after every release; from straight forward death metal, to a progressive doom metal sound, to an atmospheric gothic metal sound, to a melancholic hard rock sound and in 2006, went as far as to releasing an entirely acoustic album Acoustic Verses.

Green Carnation are from Kristiansand, Norway. They formed in 1990 as a death-metal act, but did not release their first album until 2000.

They recognized the impossibly, daunting task before them and opted to go in a different direction. This album represents my first experience with Green Carnation - a band that I had been hearing the name many times from prog friends as well as prog sites. But I had no clue at all about the music until a friend of mine, Rizal, who work in Singapore brought in this album for me to have a couple of spins.
